Maison 4:3 and KRH Film are pleased to bring Touched to Toronto audiences for its theatrical release, beginning November 16 for a one-week engagement, at the Carlton Cinema.

Touched is a ghostly, genre-hopping mystery. A young woman (Lola Flanery) disappears from her building and her solitary landlord (Hugh Thompson) becomes obsessed with tracking her down. The landlord’s search for his missing tenant sends him on a strange adventure. Guided by a little girl – who may be the vanished tenant as a child – odd things begin to happen and the landlord struggles to figure out what’s real. The child’s kindness may be his only source of light and hope, but she is also leading him down a rabbit hole… and he may not be able to see his tenant or the surface again.

This is the first feature film by Karl R. Hearne, that has garnered critical acclaim playing over 14 festivals, including the Austin Film Festival, and Newport Beach IFF, and twice winning the award for Best Feature Film.

Part murder mystery, part love story between an unlikely father figure and a nine-year-old girl, this dreamlike, dark and odd film creates a tender but disturbing portrait of human isolation, exploring both sociopathy and the fragile power of human kindness.

Touched recently played Montreal where it had its Canadian Premiere at the Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec (FCVQ) and at Palais Montcalm – Salle d’Youville, and theatrically opened in Cineplex Forum (Montreal), and with French subtitles at Cinéma du Parc (Montreal) and Cinéma Le Clap (Quebec City).

Touched is distributed by Maison 4:3 in Canada. It is written, produced and directed by Karl R. Hearne.  The film stars Hugh Thompson and Lola Flanery, and it is produced with the financial participation of Telefilm Canada, the Film and Television Tax Credit (Gestion SODEC), the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
