"The greatest daredevil superstar entertainer in the world today."
- Jimmy Kimmel

(Toronto - October 23, 2008) Prepare to uncurb your enthusiasm! The most maladroit stuntman in TV history, Super Dave Osborne, is back in stores across the country.

Bob Einstein - a.k.a. Super Dave - has been a favourite of Curb Your Enthusiasm fans for four seasons as Larry's reluctant "best friend" Marty Funkhouser. The comedy veteran's weird years as Super Dave were seen in two hit syndicated series produced-in-Canada, John Byner's Bizarre and The Super Dave Osborne Show, which is back in re-runs on SUN TV and the cable channel ACTION.

Now, comedy's klutzy answer to the legendary Evel Knievel is bringing his bone-headed best to DVD for the first time on November 25, 2008, with Super Dave's Super Stunt Spectacular Volume One, distributed by Video Service Corp.

Einstein and his partner, Winnipeg native Allan Blye, handpicked two-plus hours of hilarious ill-advised stunts for this DVD and recorded new introductions for this release, which is exclusive to his Canadian fans.

This will be the first time Canadians can experience the Super One completely uncensored. Accompanied on his various exploits by assistant stunt coordinator Fuji Hakajito (played by comedian Art Irizawa), fans will be treated to classics like the Football Hydraulic Arm, the Basketball Catapult Dunk, the Atomic Yo-Yo with guest Robbie Knievel and the Ski-Ride Bus Jump.

Please don't try these at home!!!

Like a live-action Looney Tunes, Super Dave's stunts left him hilariously twisted, stretched, shortened and accordioned, all for the sake of laughs. Now he's messed up for a new generation of fans, who'll join the old ones as aficionados of Super Dave mayhem.

BOB EINSTEIN - bio

Born November 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, California, Bob is the son of actress Thelma Leeds and radio comedian Harry "Parkyakarkus" Einstein. Bob's older brother, Clifford, is an advertising executive, and his younger brother, Albert (yes, his father named him Albert Einstein!) is better known as Albert Brooks. According to interviews with both Bob and Albert, all three kids in the family were in competition to make the rest of the family laugh.

One of Bob's earliest jobs was writing for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, for which he and the other writers (including Rob Reiner and Steve Martin) earned an Emmy. He also created the character of Officer Judy on the show, as well as many others. After CBS pulled the show off the air, Bob continued to make guest appearances on television, and was seen regularly on The Steve Allen Show, The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson and Late Night With David Letterman, among many others.

By the start of the 1970s, Bob's career as a writer and producer was in full swing, with credits including The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour, and Van Dyke and Company (for which he won his second Emmy). Just for fun, Bob would occasionally appear on these shows as a performer. His success in television continued into the 1980s with Bizarre (which starred John Byner), and Super Dave, for which he won a CableACE award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Bob's film appearances have been as eclectic as the rest of his career. In 1972, he had a small role in Get to Know Your Rabbit (with Tom Smothers), and later that year, made his film debut as a writer/director with Another Nice Mess, which starred Rich Little and was produced by Tom Smothers. In 1981, he was seen in brother Albert Brooks' film Modern Romance, which also featured performances by his mother and his brother Clifford. Bob also appeared in Harry Shearer's film Teddy Bears' Picnic and was seen as himself in the documentary Smothered: The Censorship Struggles of The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Most recently, Bob appeared as FBI agent Robert Caldwell in Ocean's 13 (with George Clooney and Brad Pitt).

In the world of television, Bob's best known character is Super Dave Osborne, the greatest daredevil superstar entertainer of all time! Super Dave, first seen on TV in the early 1970s, gained greater popularity on Bizarre, which ran on Showtime from 1980-1985. From there, Bob spun off the character into Super Dave, Super Dave: Daredevil for Hire (an animated series), Super Dave’s Vegas Spectacular, and his own feature film The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave. In addition to ongoing appearances as Super Dave on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bob has a busy career as a character actor as well, with a list of TV credits including Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, and Crank Yankers.

Alan Blye, Executive Producer - Statement

Bob Einstein, aka Super Dave Osborne, is one of the three funniest human beings I have ever known or worked with in my 50 years in show business. The other two were Pat Paulsen and Steve Martin. All four of us met and worked together on the show that set the trend for an entire generation of TV viewers in Canada and the United States, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, which Bob created and starred in as an unforgettable character called Officer Judy, and for which Bob, Steve and I won Emmys as part of that show's remarkable writing staff.

Since the early 1970s, Bob and I have been partners, having written and produced over five hundred episodes of prime time television. Shows like Van Dyke and Company starring Dick Van Dyke (for which we won our second Emmy), Bizarre, starring John Byner, and of course The Super Dave Osborne Show, starring Super Dave Osborne, "the greatest daredevil superstar entertainer of our time."

Bob and I first came up with the idea of Super Dave as a special event on the aforementioned Van Dyke and Company. We simply wanted to have some fun with the image of the daredevils of that era who were self centered, arrogant and absolutely ill-prepared to accomplish any of their stunts without suffering incredible bodily harm (like Evel Knievel, who literally broke every bone and tore every ligament in his body while attempting and failing at almost every stunt in his career).

After spending weeks trying to cast the character, it suddenly hit me! The guy most capable of breathing life into Super Dave was Bob Einstein himself. It took a lot of effort to convince him to do the part because he had made a decision to stop performing and focus on writing and producing. Thank goodness he relented! Bob BECAME Super Dave and Super Dave became a household name with dozens of appearances on Bizarre, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Jay Leno, David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and of course, his very own long running top rated The Super Dave Osborne Show. It is our pleasure to present this collection of fabulous highlight moments.

There's plenty more where these came from and we would be thrilled to bring you Volumes 2, 3 and 4. Watch and enjoy!
