“Fascinating and engrossing.” – Ain’t It Cool News
“A good story, excellently told, and very, very scary.” – Twitch
“It’s creepy as hell, the kind of movie that worms its way under your skin and sits there.” – The Playlist
“Honeymoon covers a lot of emotional and intellectual terrain for such an unassuming and modest indie horror film, and that’s only part of what makes it so impressive.” – FEARnet
Following its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and a successful Canadian premiere at the 2014 Fantasia Festival, Honeymoon, a film by Leigh Janiak, opens in Saskatoon October 31, from Video Services Corp (VSC).
Rose Leslie (Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey) and Harry Treadaway (Attack the Block, Penny Dreadful) give captivating leading performances as a couple that takes new love to disturbing depths, with chemistry that belies the fact that they hadn’t met prior to being cast. As romance slowly gives way to terror, writer/director Leigh Janiak puts her unique stamp on this intimate, chilling thriller – her directing debut – set in Canada’s cottage country.
“Honeymoon is a transformation tale. It tells the story of newlyweds Paul and Bea and how something beautiful can become monstrous,” Janiak explains, “[it] is an exploration of how the familiar can become alien. When you’re walking home from the theatre with a friend, when you climb into bed next to your partner, hopefully there’s a nagging: Who is this person next to me?”
