Returning for Season 2 on Monday, August 27, 2012, 9:00pm ET/PT, Intervention Canada presents 14 new episodes exploring the gut-wrenching reality of Canadians whose addiction to drugs, alcohol, and other compulsive behavior is threatening lives and destroying families.
The second season of the critically-acclaimed documentary series takes the viewer deep inside the roller coaster of addiction. From an Ontario family determined to rescue their daughter from a deadly fentanyl addiction to an Alberta family’s last-ditch effort to save a son from the ravages of alcohol, the series provides an unflinching glimpse at the horrifying reality of the life of an addict, at the same time offering help and hope to addicts and families across the country.
“We took risks with some extreme stories this year,” says Series Producer, Karen Wookey. “The drug landscape is changing. Prescription drug fatalities now outnumber traffic accidents as the leading cause of accidental death in North America, and we’re seeing drugs like hydromorphone and fentanyl on the street and being used in deadly doses. We want to throw a big light on these problems, as well as let families know it’s possible to take addiction on and win.”

As a child, Tammy, 26, was forced to look after her younger sisters when her parents would disappear for days on drug binges. A daddy’s girl, she has followed in her father’s footsteps, spending her days in crack houses, where she regularly descends into a world of drugs and danger. After protecting her little sisters from the hell that was their life, they have now come together in a heartbreaking attempt to save hers.
Season 2 – Monday September 3 at 9pm – Episode 2 – Kent
An Alberta prairie boy, Kent, 37, watched his father come home every day to a case of beer. Good at hockey, Kent’s life took a turn when a hereditary blood disease stopped him in his tracks. To fill the void, and to block out the untreated trauma of a sexual assault, Kent turned to a 17-beer-a-day habit. Now the home he shares with his girlfriend, Nicki, and their three children is a battleground of verbal abuse and shame. Nicki gives Kent a final ultimatum: clean up or lose your family for good.
