Recessionize! For Fun and Profit! 15 Simple Steps
a film by Jamie Kastner

The First Funny Film About The Great Recession!

Ever dream of…

Starting a camp to teach kids how to make millions?

Opening a Hamster Villa — for humans?

Making a living by squatting in upscale homes?

Neither did a lot of people!

Now you too can enjoy these perks of the new economic order, and a whole lot more in Jamie Kastner’s Recessionize! For Fun And Profit! 15 Simple Steps!, the new comic documentary from the filmmaker behind, Kike Like Me, and Djangomania!

In Recessionize! Kastner sets off on a black-comic verité-style road trip through California, Europe and Dubai, meeting folks who are turning economic crisis into opportunity. Told in a series of globe-hopping parables, the 56-minute film is framed as a mock educational/business primer. The quirky cast, by turns funny, absurd and heartrending, range from kids attending Camp Millionaire in Santa Barbara, to Berlin prostitutes offering eco-discounts, to the French hoteliers behind the hit “Hamster Villa” – all models of economic resilience.

Kastner’s present-day journey is interwoven with equally dark/funny tales of economic ingenuity from the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Ultimately Recessionize! tells a unique, bittersweet tale that touches on the universal ironies of modern market-guided existence.
