in… 9/11/11

a musical comedy

The Specials remount their newest show 9/11/11.

The Mayor of Toronto has plans to Ford-ify the city to make it terrorist-proof. This means the Sal Feldman Talent Agency has to move by September 11, 2011, as it’s the proposed site of the Mayor’s new security headquarters. How will a musical commemorating the events of 9/11 save the agency from extinction?

Directed by Toronto’s own, Melissa D’Agostino (Lupe:Undone, A Very Lupe X-Mas, Lupe’s Next Top Lupe).

This show will make you lose your head!

WHERE: Scotiabank Theatre, 6 Noble Street, Toronto, Ontario

WHEN: Wednesday Nov 9, Thursday Nov 10, Fri Nov 11, Saturday Nov 12, Sunday November 13 @ 8pm

Sandra Battaglini is one of Toronto’s most popular stand-up comedians. Sandra can be seen in the upcoming feature film Running Mates alongside Henry Winkler, and hosts one of Toronto’s foremost comedy rooms with Phil Luzi: The Sal & Sandy Show at the Underground Comedy Club. Sandra won a Canadian Comedy Award for her solo show Hard Headed Woman and is travelling to the UK this fall.

Precious Chong is currently developing a television series called Single Mom, which was one of 21 pitches chosen to showcase by Insight Entertainment. Most recently she can be seen in HBO Canada’s second season of Living in Your Car as Christy, the stilt walker and as a screaming wife in Flashpoint. Her dad is Tommy Chong of Cheech & Chong. But that doesn’t mean you can hit her up for pot. Seriously. You just can’t.

Phil Luzi is known for his character creation and for hosting Toronto’s edgiest shows! He hosts The Sal & Sandy Show along with Sandra Battaglini. He also co-hosts Carolina Dai with Battaglini – a satirical Italian lifestyle program currently in development. He is one-half of Kritch & Krütch, a new comedy musical duo with Christopher Sawchyn. Listen for their upcoming hit single, I Want to Dance (with you tonight).

Christopher Sawchyn has a reputation for his absurdist take on character invention and musical comedy. Together with his extensive background in classical theatre, music and dance, this makes him one of Toronto’s most innovative performers and writers. The other half of Kritch & Krütch, Christopher has choreographed many production, including The Specials and this edition is no exception! Watch for him in Sarah Polley’s upcoming feature The Dark Room.
