Blue Ice Docs is excited to announce the acquisition of two much-anticipated music docs about two iconic Canadian bands; Blue Rodeo: Lost Together and It’s All Gonna Break, featuring the Broken Social Scene.

Blue Rodeo: Lost Together, directed by Dale Heslip, is an engaging dive into the world of one of Canada’s most beloved bands, Blue Rodeo. With the unmistakable voices of Jim Cuddy and Greg Keelor guiding the way, this documentary blends humour, honesty, and heart to tell the story of their incredible 40-year journey. As Blue Rodeo continues to hit new creative highs, Lost Together takes you behind the scenes of their extraordinary adventure. The film will have its World Premiere at the Whistler Film Festival Dec 6 and 8 at Rainbow theatre.

It’s All Gonna Break, shot and directed by Stephen Chung, unearths the intimate, never before seen, behind-the-scenes footage documenting the creation of Canada’s most influential music collective Broken Social Scene. The film features interviews with the full band, Kevin Drew, Brendan Canning, Feist, Emily Haines, Amy Milan, Charles Spearin, Andrew Whiteman, Justin Peroff, John Crossingham, Evan Cranley, James Shaw, Jeffrey Remedios, David Newfeld, all of whom helped catapult this indie-darling group from the beer-soaked bars of Toronto to stadium stages at festivals across the United States and Europe. It’s All Gonna Break is not just a way to watch an incredible collective of friends and musicians come together to create timeless art; it’s the documentation of a moment that changed Canadian culture, while reaching the rest of the world with their much-loved indie rock sound.

“We’re pumped to share Blue Rodeo: Lost Together and It’s All Gonna Break with audiences across Canada,” says Robin Smith, President of Blue Ice Docs. “As a longtime fan myself of these two legendary bands, I can confidently say that these two documentaries will reignite the passion of fans nationwide. With its treasure trove of never-before-seen footage, these films are poised to become instant classics – true greatest hits that will leave viewers falling in love with these bands all over again.”

Robin Smith struck a deal on Lost Together with Corey Russell from Cream Films. And for It’s All Gonna Break a deal was made with Ann Shin from Fathom Film Group.

Both films will kick off their theatrical premieres in the new year at Hot Docs Cinema in Toronto.
