HarlowBardot, the dynamic electronic pop duo of Kinga and Marc Wonnacott, emerges with their electrifying debut single, Nothing (Stays The Same) – a track that fuses the best elements of synthpop, dance music, and electro-rock into a euphoric, otherworldly sound.

British music e-zine Aldora Britain Records raves about the duo, calling them “a brilliantly collaborative force with a refreshed sense of creation and innovation,” and even noting that their sound echoes the pioneering spirit of Sparks, Kraftwerk, and Tangerine Dream.

The song’s impact was immediate. Legendary Canadian DJ and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee David Marsden, who helped introduce Marc’s former band Land of Giants to the airwaves in the ‘80s, loved Nothing (Stays The Same) so much he played it twice-in-a-row when he premiered it recently on his NYthespirit.com weekend show.

This is one of those collaborations that’s been in the making for decades. Their paths almost crossed multiple times throughout the years. Kinga had performed as an opener for Deee-Lite at a Toronto nightclub where Marc worked; Marc had attended concerts at a club where Kinga was a regular; Kinga owned Marc’s Land of Giants single, Cannibal Dolls; Marc had heard Kinga’s dancefloor hit Sexy Boy on the radio. Still, despite these close encounters, Kinga and Marc never actually met until social media brought them together…and now, they’re synced up, creatively with HarlowBardot

Their partnership started as an experiment. Marc sent Kinga an instrumental track, and, using GarageBand in his basement studio, Kinga added lyrics and melody. And, that first track became Nothing (Stays The Same).

With more songs taking shape, they realized this was more than a one-off collaboration. A band name was needed, and inspiration struck when Marc suggested using the title of an old, unused song Kinga had written: HarlowBardot.

“Okay!” was the instant, enthusiastic response. And just like that, HarlowBardot was born.

“Meeting Marc completely reshaped my musical perspective,” says Kinga. “He valued everything I wrote and sang, and every thumbs-up from him fuelled my inspiration to create even more.”

“I thought my days of making music were behind me,” says Marc Wonnacott, “but then Kinga dragged me back into the spotlight, and I began to feel inspired to explore musical avenues I hadn’t ventured into before. It’s been an amazing journey!”

With Nothing (Stays The Same) starting to make waves, HarlowBardot is just getting started.

About HarlowBardot

HarlowBardot is a Toronto-based duo blending their deep roots in ‘80s electronic music with a modern edge. Marc Wonnacott, a founding member of The Biffs and Land of Giants (whose cult classic Cannibal Dolls/Seven Men remains a cold wave/minimal synth staple), and Kinga, known for his dancefloor hit Sexy Boy, have created a sound that bridges past and present, club and sci-fi, nostalgia and reinvention.
