Announces Casting and Start of Production

PRESS RELEASE
Principal photography on Sara, written and directed by Jessica Hinkson, and produced by C’mon Mort Productions’ Ashleigh Rains with Naiyelli Romero Agüero, will shoot March 3 – 4th, 2023, in Toronto.
The dramatic short film is about a woman who finds the strength to confront her greatest fear by relying on the comfort of strangers.
Announcing a small and mighty cast: Samora Smallwood (Star Trek: Discovery, The Kings of Napa) who plays Sara, and Naomi Snieckus (Mr. D) who plays Elena, and Prince Amponsah (Station Eleven) who plays Davey.
Hinkson won the Women In Film Screenplay Award for her Sara script at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival in 2021. The prize included $1,000 cash from HollyShorts, camera gear rental from BECiNE, Final Draft software, and a world premiere status at the HollyShorts Film Festival, taking place at the TCL Chinese Theatre, August 10 – 19, 2023.
Sara will shoot at Osteria Rialto and the Humber CTI Campus in Toronto, with plans to finish production by mid-May.
Of note Sara is in the early stages of being developed into Hinkson’s first feature film as writer and director, with a new title, Concrete Marshmallow, which was selected as part of Stowe Story Labs in 2022.
