PRESS RELEASE

C’mon Mort Productions and Hello, Darling Pictures present in association with 88th Street Productions, made with support from Stowe Story Labs, Sara, a film by Jessica Hinkson, which will have its world premiere at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Los Angeles on August 12, at 7:30pm at the TCL Chinese Theaters.

Sara is a dramatic short film about a woman who finds the strength to confront her greatest fear by relying on the comfort of strangers.

The small and mighty cast includes Samora Smallwood (Star Trek: DiscoveryThe Kings of Napa), who plays Sara, Naomi Snieckus (Mr. D) who plays Elena, and Prince Amponsah (Station Eleven) who plays Davey.

“HollyShorts has been pivotal in launching my screenwriting career, and now also as a director,” says writer/director Jessica Hinkson. “In the industry, we always talk about needing that one opportunity to be seen and (therefore) elevated to do what we love – make movies. And HollyShorts has certainly been that for me, and I am eternally grateful.”

Hinkson won the Women In Film Screenplay Award for her Sara script at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival in 2021.

Sara was shot in Toronto at Osteria Rialto and the Humber CTI Campus.

Of note Sara is being developed into Hinkson’s first feature film as writer and director, with a new title, Concrete Marshmallow, and was selected as part of Stowe Story Labs in 2022.

Additional crew include Executive Producers Theo Dumont, Daniel Sol, Daniel Sheldon, Associate Producer Thea Gagliardi, and Director of Photography Lainie Knox.
